Why a herd? 

Each role plays a vital part in the dynamic of a balanced herd. They depend on each other to take charge when the herd needs their unique skill.

If some roles are not fulfilled, the herd will be imbalanced - and teams can't function efficiently.

By dividing responsibilities, they take turns leading and following. No one is more important than anyone else; everyone belongs and fulfills a specific need.
